The Buddha dispatches a mad monk and the beast, Golden-Haired Hou, to escort a thousand-year-old ancient mirror back to the Heaven of Parting Sorrows. However, the pair accidentally falls into an illusory world within the mirror itself. Together, they journey through wondrous realms spanning the ages, wandering across fantastical landscapes and dreamlike mirages. Amid the dazzling deceptions, they are forced to confront their true selves. As worldly attachments and obsessions gradually dissolve, both the monk’s madness and the beast’s primal nature transform. In the end, they discover the greatest treasure within their own hearts. They come to realize that the most beautiful destination in life is not the distant Heaven of Parting Sorrows, but the moment one sees one’s true nature and attains inner enlightenment.
