Lin Yaoshan, a young mountain forager, was rescued as a child by the veteran forager Long Erkui on Shengnv Mountain and taken in as his apprentice. Agile and skillful yet slick and money-minded, he is nevertheless kind at heart.
After becoming involved in a missing ginseng case, he is drawn into deep-mountain secrets connected to the old affairs of a leprosy hospital and the legend of the “flesh lingzhi.”
Following numerous ordeals and the passing of his master Long Erkui, he ultimately grows into a new generation mountain forager.
